About La-Prom

My name is Robin Baird, and La-Prom is the latest chapter in a lifelong journey that began in a small town in Scotland and led me to the luminous shores of the Côte d’Azur.

From a young age, I was drawn to light, form, and the subtle beauty in everyday things. I honed this instinct sitting in art class, where I learned not just to see, but to observe — to notice what others passed by. That same instinct led me to photography, and ultimately, to a body of work that has taken me across Europe, with exhibitions in Barcelona and beyond.

For nearly a decade, I immersed myself in the world of superyachts, documenting their bold architecture and reflective geometry at the Monaco and Cannes yacht shows. The resulting series, The Art of Yachting, was described by a lifelong friend as “ribbons of light captured in countless shades of azure sea and blue sky,” revealing not just machines, but magnificent sculptures adrift in light and motion.

But it was here, in Nice, that a new and far more personal muse emerged — the iconic blue chairs of the Promenade des Anglais.

Seven years ago, my son was just a baby. His mum worked nights, and when he woke at dawn, I would give him breakfast and we’d head out together — just the two of us — along the Promenade. We did this nearly every morning for years. Those early walks became a quiet ritual: the Mediterranean breeze, the first golden light of day, and the blue chairs — always there, perfectly still, perfectly empty. As I pushed his stroller and the city slowly woke, I began photographing those moments. That time of day gifted me not just perfect light, but the perfect stillness. No tourists, no distractions. Just space, light, and silence — and a new father learning to see the world through both a lens and a newborn’s eyes. That’s why these photographs carry more than just composition or technique — they carry memory. They are filled with the rhythm of early fatherhood, the peace of dawn, and the wonder of rediscovering the world beside someone small.

La-Prom.com is my homage to that time, that place, and that feeling. A curated collection of fine art photography, printed to museum standards and shipped worldwide — timeless pieces of the Riviera to bring into your home.La-Prom is more than a gallery.
